I'm currenlty running AS 2005 on a Windows 2003 STD edition 32bit.
I have added the /3GB switch in the boot.ini to that the server will use all 4GB.
Unfortunately AS only appears to see 2GB based on the following error
Memory error: The operation cannot be completed because the memory quota estimate (4095MB) exceeds the available system memory (1996MB).
As you can see my the error AS only thinks the system has 1996MB of memory.
I can confirm that there is 4GB of memory in the server and the OS can see 4GB memory
Thanks for your help
Hello! You will have to use 64bit CPU and 64bit O/S and the enterprise 64 bit edition of SSAS2005 to use more than 2 GB for SSAS2005.

|||Umm... The CPU's are 64bit but had to go with 32bit install becuase when we went in to production many moons ago back when SSSAS2005 only worked on 32bit and we never got around to upgrading. Now seems like that time
Thanks for your help
cheers
|||AS should be able to see and use 3Gb even in Standard Edition 32-bit, once you've set the /3Gb switch. See:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175672.aspx
and
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;291988
What is your TotalMemoryLimit server property (for details see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/ssasproperties.mspx) set to? I have a vague recollection that there might be something special you have to do to get AS to use the extra memory, but that could be my imagination.
Alternatively, the error message you're seeing might just be wrong about how much memory AS can see. You can stop the error by altering the MemoryLimitErrorEnabled server property (see the previous link) but it sounds like you do need to upgrade to 64-bit to process whatever it is you're trying to process.
HTH,
Chris
