How can I remove the workitem type from the existing project?

When creating a new project using 'Agile' process template, there are 5 workitem types in the list of workitem type by default. After the project being created, how can I delete some workitem type that we don' t need?

For example, my team will never use 'Senario' workitem type for the project and I would like to remove this workitem type from the list. So no team member will see 'Senario' workitem type in the list when creating workitem, and therefore no one will create a workitem using 'Senario' workitem type by accident.

I understand that workitem type can't be deleted if it is used to created any workitem. So what I mean is the workitem type that has never used to create any workitem.

Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot remove them from the list even if you have never created one. You can remove them from the template prior to creating a project and they will never be in the project. You could also try to put security on the transition from nothing to new for TFSAdmins only. That way the typical users would not be able to create a new workitem of the type Scenario. There may be other creative ways, but in the end they will still show in the list.

How are you binding to your datasource? A SqlDataSource, ObjectDataSource, or are you binding to the datasource in your code using a DataTable, DataReader, or DataSet?

How can i import records from a sql server table in project1 to another sql server table i

Hi, i have a table with all employee bio-data in a completed project. Iam now working on another project with a table that needs the same data and here iam talking about 300 records that rarely change. Instead of re-entering this data in this new table, i want to import the data from the completed project into a table in this new project. Does any one have any idea how to achieve that or is there a better option to do the same.

One more thing iam realising here is that iam going to use this same data in very many applications and some one from one department is going to enter this data in all these different applications. so i was wondering if there could be a way of having a central database that this guy can mantain and then i be able to use that table data in different applications that iam going to develop. I dont want to kill this unlucky guy with data entry tasks every time i deploy a new application.

So basically, how can make one database application sever several different applications with its data.

Why hold the database within the project at all? Move the database to the server, create one account for updating and one other applications that just need to read the data.

You can share database for different projects. You can copy database tables from one database to another. Here is a sample for you to move one table from one database to another database without creating the new table first.

Run this from the database you want to export data:

SELECT*INTO newDataBaseName.dbo.yourNewTableFROM tableToExpost

Iam running sql sever express 2005 with advanced services and visual web developer 2005 express edition. I also got info some where on msdn that sql sever express does not support multiple connections to a .mdf file. If this is true, then wont i run into error like

1. A connection can not be made, the file is being used by a nother process or application.

2. The database is closed.

How can I have a local copy of SQL server database?

I want to have a local copy of my SQL server database on a laptop (windows 2000 professional) so that I can demo the project on the client's site. I'm not sure if I can do it by MSDE. And is that possible to write the data back to SQL server after changin
g the local copy? Thanks a lot.

You can for instance take a backup of the database and restore it on the other machine. Or use sp_detach_db
and sp_attach_db. Watch out for orphaned logins, though (read about sp_change_users_login in Books Online). If
you restore from your laptop to the server, it will overwrite the whole database.

how can I get the row number(error row) while constraint failure at the OLE DB destination?

my project is insert data to OLE DB destination from csv file.

my question is

how can I get the row number(error row) while constraint failure at the OLE DB destination?

thanks.

You can't. There is no concept of row numbers in the SSIS pipeline (for good reasons).

What you CAN do is divert the erroring rows elsewhere for examination later.

thank you.

it saves me a lot of time.
